A Deep Dive into READYgg
This week, we announced the READYgg Token Launch on CoinList, available until July 17 at 17:00 UTC.
We spoke with the READYgg team about the current challenges between web2 and web3 gaming, RDYX use cases, the potential impact of blockchain on the gaming industry over the next 5 to 10 years, and more.
Let’s dive in.
1. What is READYgg and what problems does it solve?
READYgg is a gaming layer 0 protocol that allows web2 studios to run any game on any blockchain. READYgg is working to onboard billions of new gamers to the blockchain with a turnkey solution to convert any web2 game to web3, helping games and gamers unlock the power of ownership in minutes.
Thus far, native web3 games have struggled when it comes to scaling and attracting users. At the same time, most web2 game developers do not have the tech required to bring their games into web3 or build web3 games from scratch. Players themselves also encounter many obstacles within gaming — they are prompted to connect or create wallets outside of the game play, they do not have player profiles on-chain, and up-front costs can be a burden. Game player stats have demonstrated that prompting a player to create a wallet or do anything outside of the game experience can result in a 99% dropoff rate.
To address these issues, developers need core game infrastructure, backend, analytics, dev ops, and game features to enable and monetize their games efficiently. Additionally, game publishers need to migrate existing games with thousands of users and player bases into web3 seamlessly and securely — without risk to their business models. With READYgg’s all-in-one tech stack, web2 games and their users can quickly and sustainably adopt blockchain technology.
2. What are the inherent use cases of the RDYX token?
There are two primary use cases of the RDYX token:
- Commodity: Premium on-chain assets are infused with the RDYX token. Tokens are locked into these items and provide further intrinsic value beyond utility and rarity. An example of this is that developers can generate RDYX-infused NFTs to gamify staking into their games directly.
- Currency: Everything in the READYgg ecosystem is priced in RDYX. Games that have assets on multiple chains only need to hold one token to pay for gas: RDYX. For instance, developers purchase RDYX to essentially pay for gas fees associated with creating NFT collections, writing data on-chain, or launching their games. They will need to purchase “Fuseblocks”, which are smart contracts and RDYX packages that may unlock certain ecosystem benefits, such as discounts or access to new features.
3. What is the most interesting trend in web3 gaming that you are seeing?
We are noticing a different kind of interoperability, whereby in-game items can be used with other applications and in the real world, such as within DeFi, on social media, and in real-life events. The future of NFTs in gaming is about bridging the gap between virtual achievements and real-world rewards.
Imagine custom experiences and access to e-sports events and concerts granted by various on-chain badges. Or, a game based on a popular television series that provides unique content for accounts with certain in-game achievements. READYgg is currently doing this with major gaming conferences, creating IRL quests with on-chain tracking and achievement.
4. What key features of READYgg resonate most with developers and users?
READYgg provides a chain-agnostic, app-store-compliant, easy-to-use plugin that allows developers to start building web3 features for their games within minutes. Developers can use this to monetize their games within web3: fully interoperable NFTs, smart contracts, on-chain quests, and player profiles.
For developers, READYgg facilitates the onboarding of users with seamless web2-style. For players, READYgg represents the easiest possible way to participate in web3 and take ownership of digital goods. With one account, players can start earning rewards from the games they play to show off their skills, dedication, and loyalty. These rewards can be sold, rented, or moved across games, genres, and blockchains.
5. How does the READYgg stand out from other gaming protocols?
READYgg meets developers and players where they’re at. Our plug-and-play SDK is compatible with the most popular engines and allows developers with no blockchain experience to seamlessly introduce monetization or web3 features. Our team has amassed experience from across web3 and traditional gaming, so we are able to help developers build the very best experiences to onboard new users.
6. What strategies does READYgg have in place for governance and community-led growth, development, and self-sustainability?
We put developers and users first. Token holders and the community at large will have the opportunity to participate in governance of the Layer 0 protocol and influence the direction of the project through voting, participation in forums, discussions during town halls, and Q&A during AMA events. Feedback and input from the community of devs and token holders are critical to offering a product people love.
Additionally, READYgg has a proven tech-stack that works across different games, platforms, and blockchains.
7. How do you see the gaming industry evolving with the integration of blockchain technology over the next 5-10 years?
We think that blockchain tech will be a fundamental tool every game dev will need in their toolbox. In fact, most studios are already experimenting with it. In 2020, gamers spent approximately $54 billion on in-game items. This figure is projected to be around $75 billion by 2025. All of those items are effectively rented from the game studio, whereas with blockchain, users will have true ownership.
8. What is the best way to get involved in the READYgg community?
